Abstract:

Abstract Background and Aim: Epulis Fissuratum (EF) is a hyperplasia of mucosal fibrosis and its main cause is the use of improper prosthesis. Treatment of these lesions is necessary because any change in the natural tissue of the oral mucosa causes the accumulation of opportunistic microflora, such as Candida albicans. Therefore, this study aimed to report an interesting observation about the EF response to drug therapy. Case Report: A 62-year-old female patient referred to the Dental Clinic of Semnan University of Medical Sciences (SUMS) while suffering from a long-term mouth ulcer.Diagnosis of EF was suggested based on the clinical appearance as well as the association of the prosthesis with the lesion. Therefore, gargling a suspension of 100,000 units of nystatin four times a day was also prescribed, and oral hygiene by removing the prosthesis was recommended, in unnecessary times and at night.Subsequently, in follow-up sessions, a gradual improvement was observed unitl the disease was completely eliminated . Conclusion: It seems,  Regarding the relationship between EF and the accumulation of microorganisms, a cours of drug treatment might be notable effect on reduction size of EF.

[A prosthodontic approach to the surgical treatment of the epulis fissuratum].

Simple excision of the epulis fissuratum results in loss of sulcus dept hand scar formation, hence the peripheral seal of full denture are obstructed. بررسی توزیع گیرنده‌های استروژن و پروژسترون در ضایعات Epulis Fissuratum

Statement of Problem: Epulides Fissurata (EF) are common proliferative and denture- induced lesions of the oral cavity with a predilection for female. This suggests a possible role for sex steroid hormones in the development and progression of these lesions. Purpose: The objective of this study was the immunohistochemical evaluation of epulis fissuratum of the oral cavity for estrogen and proge...

Treatment of epulis fissuratum with carbon dioxide laser in a patient with antithrombotic medication.

Epulis fissuratum is a pseudotumor growth located over the soft tissues of the vestibular sulcus caused by chronic irritation from poorly adapted dentures. Treatment indication for these lesions is surgical excision with appropriate prosthetic reconstruction. The hemostatic capacity of carbon dioxide (CO(2)) laser is well described in the literature as a useful tool in oral surgery, especially ...

CO2 Laser Surgery and Prosthetic Management for the Treatment of Epulis Fissuratum

The aim of this study was to present a case report of the surgical removal of hyperplasia in the oral cavity, using carbon dioxide (CO(2)) laser radiation and rehabilitation with a complete denture. Epulis fissuratum occurs in complete denture patients, because a constant irritative action induces the mucosa to grow under poorly fitting dentures. These lesions must be removed, and to avoid a re...

Laryngeal Leiomyosarcoma, A Case Report and Review of Articles

Laryngeal leiomysarcoma is an extremely rare malignancy originating from smooth muscle cells. Its rarity is due to the fact that only less than 50 cases of pure laryngeal leiomyosarcoma and less than 10 cases of hypopharyngeal leiomyosarcaoma have been reported in modern medical literature.  Even though the clinical presentation mimics that of a laryngeal carcinoma forming the major bulk of the...
